Body Piercing Aftercare Instructions
Proper aftercare is essential for healing your piercing safely and comfortably. Please follow these guidelines carefully to help prevent irritation, infection, and complications during the healing process.
Cleaning Your Piercing

- Clean the area 1–2 times daily using a sterile saline solution or wound wash recommended by your piercer.
- Gently rinse away any buildup or discharge with warm water during showers.
- Pat dry with a clean disposable paper product. Avoid cloth towels, which can harbor bacteria.
What to Avoid
- Do not touch, twist, rotate, or play with your jewelry during healing.
- Avoid alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, ointments, or harsh soaps on the piercing.
- Do not remove or change jewelry prematurely.
- Avoid swimming in pools, lakes, hot tubs, or oceans during the initial healing period.
- Keep makeup, lotions, hair products, and fragrances away from the piercing site.
General Healing Tips
- Avoid sleeping directly on the piercing whenever possible.
- Maintain good hygiene, hydration, nutrition, and rest to support healing.
- Wear clean, breathable clothing around body piercings.
- Minor redness, swelling, tenderness, and light discharge are normal during healing.
Seek Medical Attention If You Experience
- Excessive swelling or severe pain
- Thick green or dark yellow discharge
- Fever or spreading redness
- Persistent irritation that worsens over time
Healing Times
Healing times vary depending on the piercing type and individual healing factors. Continue proper aftercare throughout the entire healing process, even if the piercing appears healed externally.
